Philharmonica Baroque
Since 1981, the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra has offered rich, historically-fascinating programs of Baroque, classical and early-Romantic era music using original period instruments. Led by music director Nicholas McGegan, who celebrated his 30th anniversary last season, PBO was named Musical America’s “Ensemble of the Year” in 2004.Through their creative collaborations in dance and opera, the San Francisco-based group shares their passion for early music with an ever-widening circle of fans.

No two violin concertos are alike and no one knows this better than recent Gramophone Award winning violinist Rachel Podger. Crowned the “queen of Baroque violin” by The Sunday Times, Rachel returns to perform a variety of violin concertos exploring different Baroque era styles and forms and leads Philharmonia in the first of only four orchestra suites written by J.S. Bach.

Run Boy Run
While Run Boy Run’s bluegrass sound is rooted in the traditional style of the Appalachian South, they are part of a trend to revive innovation in American roots music. Their voices weave a spectacular tapestry around the fiddle’s tight rhythmic front, leading listeners on a musical journey that is dynamic, orchestral, and overflowing with beauty. The whole exceeds the sum of the parts as touches of classical, jazz, and folk express themselves through the old-time core of Run Boy Run’s unique sound.

In the Heights - Tri-Valley Repertory Theater - Main Stage
Music and Lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda | Book by Quiara Alegría Hudes | Conceived By Lin-Manuel Miranda

Winner of the 2008 Tony Award for Best Musical. Welcome to the kind of musical that comes around once in a generation. A musical that builds on the best traditions of theatre while forging into fresh new territory. A musical about the importance of home, family and finding where you belong.

IN THE HEIGHTS tells the universal story of a vibrant community in New York's Washington Heights neighborhood - a place where the coffee from the corner bodega is light and sweet, the windows are always open and the breeze carries the rhythm of three generations of music. It's a community on the brink of change, full of hopes, dreams and pressures, where the biggest struggles can be deciding which traditions you take with you, and which ones you leave behind. IN THE HEIGHTS is the winner of the 2008 Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Score, Best Choreography and Best Orchestrations.

The College Admissions “Arms Race”
Students and their parents are stressed to the breaking point over getting into college.
Witty and wise, Julie Lythcott-Haims is a tonic for what ails this generation of kids and parents. While Stanford’s Dean of Freshmen, she became a fierce advocate for students and critical of parental involvement in the day-to-day lives of college students. Her first book, How to Raise an Adult: Break Free of the Overparenting Trap and Prepare Your Kid for Success was a New York Times best seller.
She will offer sound advice on the college application process and alternatives to the college admissions “arms race” frenzy.

One-Man Star Wars Trilogy
Much of Canadian actor Charles Ross’ childhood was spent in a galaxy far, far away, watching Star Wars videos over – and over – and over again. The result of this misspent youth is a unforgettably hilarious comic mashup of the iconic films, wherein he single-handedly plays all the characters, sings the music, flies the ships, wields a light saber, fights the battles, and condenses the entire plot into just sixty minutes! After seeing Ross’ zany take, Star Warswill never seem quite the same again.

The Little Mermaid - Livermore School of Dance
Deep below the ocean waves, lived a hopeful Little Mermaid. Her voice was the most beautiful ever heard, but she was willing to never utter another word if she could meet the man of her dreams and bestow on him a kiss. Of course, the evil Sea Witch was more than happy to grant her wish, so the Little Mermaid traded her voice and tail; all who loved her hoped she would not fail. Presented by Le Tableau Magnifique Ballet Company and based on Hans Christian Andersen’s classic tale, The Little Mermaid ballet is a tale of love lost and self-acceptance gained.

Small Business Saturday
Small Business Saturday, November 26th, is the day we celebrate the Shop Small movement to drive shoppers to local merchants in Pleasanton and across the country. More than 30 Downtown Pleasanton businesses will be participating in this all day event and many are offering special discounts on shopping, dining and services. Balloons, stickers, shopping bags, pet bandanas, pens and more will be given to customers throughout the day as a thank you for supporting local businesses. While spending the day downtown, shoppers and diners may be the recipient of a downtown gift card. Several will be handed out to randomly selected customers.

Why shop in Downtown Pleasanton? Buying locally ensures our city stays extraordinary and the place to go. Local merchants get to know our local tastes and select merchandise with the local community in mind. You get personal attention. You feel connected. Our businesses make us special and give us a strong sense of loyalty for our city. The more unique we are as a community, the more we attract visitors, which benefits everyone. Shopping locally also keeps dollars in our economy. When we support our local businesses, our sales taxes are reinvested right here in Pleasanton. For every $100 spent at an independently owned Pleasanton store, $46 stays in the community. That makes Pleasanton extraordinary!

Buying locally is more environmentally friendly too. When we shop in Downtown Pleasanton or at our local neighborhood shopping center, it often means that you can walk or bike to shop, supporting conveniently located and accessible shops. You also get products that are often better made because our neighborhood stores stand behind them.

Get involved by committing to shop in Downtown Pleasanton on Small Business Saturday on Pleasanton Downtown Association’s Facebook Page. Show your support by taking selfies at your favorite downtown businesses. Tag the business and the Pleasanton Downtown Association in each photo and share them with #ShopSmallPleasanton. Help make November 26th the Biggest Day of the Year for small business in Pleasanton!

Hagmann Ranch Open House
Family all cooped up ending a long Thanksgiving weekend? Get 'em out of the house!

Come by Sunday to tour the ranch and meet THREE special guest groups:

Knitting demonstrations by the Demon Knitters. OK, I made that up, I don't think they have a gang name, but they will be showing their beautiful work and demonstrating how it is done.

Tri-Valley Wood Carvers. A very talented local group of wood carvers with a wide range of styles.

HistoryMobile - Our mobile museum on winter break from touring the schools, a complete history of Livermore in 32 feet.

And of course check out our historic tractors, take a walking tour of the site, meet the horses, graze the gardens, relax on rustic hewn benches and check out the site progress. Hope to see you at the ranch!
