Livermore Valley Opera - The Marriage of Figaro
The Marriage of Figaro remains one of the greatest masterpieces of comedy in music. Mozart’s melodies sparkle and librettist Da Ponte is at the top of his art. Based on the play by Beaumarchais, it is the story after The Barber of Seville, and it tells how the servants Figaro and Susanna succeed in getting married, foiling the efforts of their philandering employer Count Almaviva to seduce Susanna and teaching him a lesson in fidelity. Through Figaro’s and Susanna’s clever manipulations, the Count’s love for his Countess is finally restored.

Neil Simon's Last of the Red Hot Lovers
It was the 1960s, an era where we were free to choose who we wanted to love and when. In this newly-conceived production of Neil Simon’s classic play, true comedy ensues when a man looks for something new and different, but ends up finding himself in the same situation again and again. Barney rediscovers love in the last place he thought to look. “Last of the Red Hot Lovers” was made into a 1972 hit film starring Alan Arkin and Sally Kellerman. Now it’s time to fall in love with it all over again!

The third installment of this thrilling graphic novel adventure merges retro radio show with comic book magic to create unforgettable, one-of-a-kind live theater. Three actors voice dozens of characters, a Foley artist creates sound effects, and a pianist plays a cinematic score, while over 1,250 hand-drawn, full-color comic book images fill the stage. This is a unique multimedia experience guaranteed to bring out the 12-year-old in everyone and leave behind a space-age aura of wonder that lasts for days.

Sample craft beers from Bay Area breweries at 30 downtown locations. Tasty bites will also be served. To add to the festive spirit of this event, guests are encouraged to wear green and other fun St. Patrick's Day items. Each participant receives beer tastings and tasty bites at more than 30 downtown locations, a commemorative beer glass and tasting map.

Participating breweries include Ale Industries, E.J. Phair Brewing Company, Eight Bridges Brewing, Epidemic Ales, High Water Brewing, Lagunitas Brewing Company, Mendocino Brewing Company, Shadow Puppet Brewing Company, Sonoma Springs, Working Man Brewing Company and MORE!

Alan Ashworth  - Rae Dorough Speaker Series
Genes, Cancer and New Treatments
Dr. Ashworth’s research focuses on understanding cancer genetics in order to change patient treatment.
He was a key part of the team that identified the BRCA2 breast cancer susceptibility gene, which is linked to an increased risk of some types of cancer in both men and women.
Dr. Ashworth will explain the development of targeted therapy for cancer. This personalized approach exploits genetic deficiencies of BRCA-related and other cancers.
Alan Ashworth, Ph.D., F.R.S. is President of the UC San Francisco Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center. Previously he was head of the Institute of Cancer Research in London, UK.

Kahulanui
A fresh musical wave from Hawaii blends traditional island tunes with the big band swing sound brought to the Aloha state during World War II. Leading the way is Kahulanui (“The Big Dance”) a nine-piece band with horns, guitar, bass, ukulele, drums and steel, whose energetic and dynamic style has become a sensation throughout the islands. Carrying on family tradition as a third generation musician, band leader Lolena Naipo Jr.’s irresistible big band vocal stylings are sure to get every toe tapping.

This much-heralded quartet has received great critical acclaim for its profound musical insight and rare tonal beauty. They serve as artists-in-residence at Lincoln Center and have been awarded the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant. Since its inception in 2005, critics have praised Escher as "Full blooded quartet playing in the grand, classic manner: extrovert and eloquent." Rhythmic Circus
Mixing hard-hitting percussive dance and a live rock band, “Feet Don’t Fail Me Now!” premiered in 2008 and has gone on to rave reviews, numerous awards, and sold-out venues across the country.
