Rock of Ages
ROCK OF AGES takes you back to the time of big bands with big egos playing big guitar solos and sporting even bigger hair! This Tony Award® -nominated Broadway musical features the hits of bands including Night Ranger, REO Speedwagon, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, and others. During the show, the actors frequently break the “fourth wall,” directly addressing the audience forgetting that they are actually in a show. This great show was recently made into a movie featuring Tom Cruise and is sure to have you rocking in your seats!!

Singin' In the Rain
When the industry moves from silent films to sound in the 1920s, Don Lockwood (Gene Kelly) makes the shift gracefully but his co-star does not. When Don suggests they hire talented chorus girl Kathy Selden (Debbie Reynolds) to dub her voice, his co-star is incensed, but Don and Kathy soon discover they belong together on screen and off. Gene Kelly’s exuberant “Singin’ in the Rain,” the sensational Cyd Charisse in “Broadway Melody,” and Donald O’Connor’s zany “Make ‘em Laugh” help make this one of the most unforgettable song and dance films of all time.

Frederic Chiu - Del Valle Fine Arts
Frederic Chiu’s intriguing piano-playing and teaching springs from a diverse set of experiences and interests: his Asian/American/European background, his musical training, and an early and ongoing exploration of artificial intelligence and human psychology, especially the body-mind-heart connection.

A Yamaha Artist for over 20 years, this versatile pianist is at home playing in major classical venues such as Lincoln Center and the Kennedy Center or collaborating with classical artists like Joshua Bell and the St. Lawrence String Quartet. He is equally comfortable performing with jazz artists, actors, and even clowns.

“Chiu is a stunningly virtuosic pianist with a dynamic range that almost defies the capabilities of modern recording techniques.” — BBC Music Magazine

The Capitol Steps
Now returning for their tenth visit to the Bankhead, The Capitol Steps have elevated political satire to an art form. Before The Daily Show, Full Frontal, and The Colbert Report, this Washington, DC-based comedy troupe gave audience laugh cramps with their bipartisan lampooning. The Capitol Steps began in 1981 as a group of Senate staffers who set out to satirize their employers, and haven’t let up since. If you’ve been keeping with the news, you know there’s no shortage of material. The troupe is coming back to Livermore with a new show of musical and political comedy. It doesn’t matter if you’re a Republican or Democrat, a snowflake or a deplorable: neither side is safe from the group that puts the “MOCK” in Democracy!

Best of San Francisco Comedy Competition
Back by popular demand! The Best of the San Francisco Comedy Competition returns with a showcase of four of today’s most talented comics in a night of irresistible laughs.

2001 SF Comedy Competition winner Bengt Washburn has been described as ditzy, original, intelligent, and truly hilarious. He has been seen on “The Late Late Show with Craig Fergusen,” “Live at Gotham” on Comedy Central and, most recently, Conan on TBS, as well as heard on the radio, at comedy festivals, and on stages across the country.

Los Altos native, Dave Burleigh is a two-time SF Comedy Competition finalist known for his multiple characters, voices and impressions. In addition to appearing on the seventh season of “America’s Got Talent.” Burleigh’s uncanny impersonations landed him a starring role as Charlie Sheen in “Not Another Celebrity Movie.”

Kevin Shea was born in Korea and adopted into an Irish family in Pennsylvania. He moved to San Francisco for a job after college, but soon discovered a talent for stand-up. Shea won NBC’s Stand Up for Diversity Showcase in 2009 and has appeared on Comedy Central’s “Premium Blend,” “Jimmy Kimmel Live” and HBO’s “Down n Dirty.”

With a comic style that ranges from observational to edgy, Julie Ash is a rising star in the Bay Area comedy scene and has performed at the SF Punchline, as well as at The Stand in NYC and other venues.

Since 1976, the San Francisco Comedy Competition has helped launch a Who’s Who of comic champions including such legends as Robin Williams, Dana Carvey, and Ellen DeGeneres. The competition’s format makes winning particularly challenging, with preliminary rounds in different types of venues and six intense semi-final rounds before the final event. At the Bankhead Theater, one of the last stops on the semifinal circuit since 2015, audiences have had a chance to enjoy the talents of the finest rising comic talents around.
