Evening with Billy Sunday Billy Sunday was a professional baseball player before becoming one of the most influential American evangelists, conducting more than 300 revivals with an estimated 100,000,000 in attendance over his career. Sunday’s revivals and sermons reflected the emotional upheavals caused by transition from rural to industrial society in the United States in the early 20th century. Chautauqua scholar Doug Mishler will portray the Evangelical preacher. Niles Canyon Railway. Offers Train Rides through historic Niles Canyon on restored vintage trains, on the original transcontinental Railroad route. Board the train in Sunol or Niles, and ride to the opposite end, then take the return trip when you are ready. Livermore History Center Open The Livermore History Center contains a variety is displays of Livermore's history as well as historical photos and other information. Third Sunday | Duarte Garage Open Built in 1915, along the newly dedicated Lincoln Highway, the garage served as a gas station, service station, and a car dealership (in the south portion, added in 1923). The garage was restored by the Livermore Heritage Guild, and provides a number of historical displays. The restored LHG fire trucks (as seen in the Rodeo Parade each year) are housed there. Last Sunday | Hagemann Ranch Open Today’s Hagemann Ranch is the last 4.5 acres of continuously operated ranch land from the original rancho el Valle de San José, a Mexican land grant applied for in 1835 by the children of José Joaquin Bernal. The original Rancho consisted of 48,000 acres encompassing much of present day Sunol, Pleasanton and the northwest section of Livermore. A variety of equipment and vehicles are on display in the historic buildings.
