Team KC was started by friends and family of Korrine Croghan. Korrine was a vivacious young lady who loved family, animals, swimming and water polo. Korrine passed away at the age of 14 after a 10 month battle with cancer. Through it all, she had a great attitude and wanted to someday help others who contracted cancer. With her passing, Team KC picked up the flag and led the charge to help others like Korrine and their families as well.

By attending Swimstong, you can help many of the pediatric cancer patients at Kaiser Oakland. With your donations, Team KC will purchase computers, games, arts and crafts activities and other fun things for the patients to do as they spend time in the hospital. Your donations will also help the families of the children with cancer by helping to pay mortgages, car repairs and groceries for those who are in need.

Art Walk Livermore
Downtown Livermore will once again be filled with art lovers enjoying a day of art, music and shopping.

ArtWalk is a different sort of festival, as the streets are kept open and the works of over 150 artists are set-up throughout the downtown in and around parks, sidewalks, galleries, wine bars, restaurants, shops and the Bankhead Theater. This allows visitors and the local community to experience all that Livermore's wine country downtown has to offer with art as the theme for the day. Parking is free.

Art works range from contemporary to classical, abstract to realism, pottery to mixed media, handmade bags, ceramic garden art and jewelry, with subject matter from floral to figurative and much more.

Special art destinations include open studios at Downtown Artists Studios at 62 So. L Street, Livermore Cultural Arts Council center in the Chamber of Commerce parking lot, Firehouse Art Studios, Tree Sweater Forest up and down First Street, Nancy Elizabeth Saltsman's Studio, and Livermore schools art exhibit in the Visitors' Center at the Bankhead Theater.
ArtWalk also provides free space for the annual exhibit from the DisabledVeteran's Painting Program, a year-round, all-volunteer art program led by Charles "Bud" Donaldson. Look for the Veterans exhibit this year inside the Bankhead Theater. The Livermore Cultural Council will be at the Chamber of Commerce parking lot on First Street to showcase their many cultural member organizations and to celebrate their 50th Anniversary.

Calling all Dragon-lovers: Help us paint a huge dragon sculpture at DragonArt and check out the arts and crafts for children at Lizzie Fountain at the corner of First and So. Livermore.

Live music is always a part of ArtWalk and enlivens the Plaza and surrounding areas.

October’s significance as Filipino American History Month is due to the first recorded presence of Filipinos in the continental United States when on October 18, 1587, “Luzones Indios” came ashore from the Spanish galleon Nuestra Senora de Esparanza and landed at what is now Morro Bay, California.
In November of 2009, both the United States House of Representatives and Senate passed laws – House Resolution 780 and Senate Resolution 298 respectively, officially recognizing October as Filipino American History Month in the United States.

Pops Concert - Livermore-Amador Symphony  -
Pops Groovin' in the '60s.

The Livermore-Amador Symphony Guild presents Pops concerts at which the audiences can enjoy light classical symphonic and pops music in a casual setting. After many years at “the Barn” in Livermore, since 2010 the Pops venue has been the ballroom of the Livermore community center.

Robert Livermore Community Center,
4444 East Avenue, Livermore
The audience sits at round tables in the Cresta Blanca Room at the Robert Livermore Community Center. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the concert begins at 8 p.m. Food may be brought in but no drinks; wine, beer, and soft drinks are sold as part of this fundraiser for the Symphony.

The Livermore-Amador Symphony provides the music at Pops, with vocal soloists and a few audience sing-alongs. Many in the audience bring something to eat, from snacks to group potluck meals to elaborate dinners. (Beverage sales at Pops support the Symphony.) Members of the audience (and of the orchestra) are encouraged to wear costumes in keeping with the theme. (Usually about half the audience and almost the entire orchestra come in costume.) Each concert has a theme (like 2002’s “POPS on Broadway,” 1995’s “POPS Plays the ’40s,” or 2003’s “POPS—Dreams of California”).

Michael Mullen-Tria Soli/Tior of One
Never pre-recorded, always immediate and created fresh, the masterful Michael Mullen makes live looping an art form. Experiencing this solo musician building his Tria Soli “ensemble” group gives the audience a unique and powerful connection with old chamber favorites – You may have heard them a thousand times, but never like this. Then, in Trio of One, the highly talented Michael Mullen brings to life the music of his Celtic roots, creating a full jig-blasting band in front of your eyes. In the end, you’ll understand why his old Tempest mates dubbed him “The Mad Fiddler”.

Diwali
Please join LVPAC in celebrating our first ever Diwali Festival of Lights!

Diwali, the “festival of lights” is an ancient Hindu festival in Nepal and India celebrated in autumn or spring every year. Originated as a harvest festival that marked the last harvest of the year before winter. The festival is celebrated for five continuous days, where the third day is celebrated as the main Diwali festival or “festival of lights.” The festival spiritually signifies the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, knowledge over ignorance, and hope over despair.

Our celebrations include diya decorations, henna activities, crafts, dances and a story telling of the history and meaning of Diwali.

In the Heights - Tri-Valley Repertory Theater - Main Stage
Music and Lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda | Book by Quiara Alegría Hudes | Conceived By Lin-Manuel Miranda

Winner of the 2008 Tony Award for Best Musical. Welcome to the kind of musical that comes around once in a generation. A musical that builds on the best traditions of theatre while forging into fresh new territory. A musical about the importance of home, family and finding where you belong.

IN THE HEIGHTS tells the universal story of a vibrant community in New York's Washington Heights neighborhood - a place where the coffee from the corner bodega is light and sweet, the windows are always open and the breeze carries the rhythm of three generations of music. It's a community on the brink of change, full of hopes, dreams and pressures, where the biggest struggles can be deciding which traditions you take with you, and which ones you leave behind. IN THE HEIGHTS is the winner of the 2008 Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Score, Best Choreography and Best Orchestrations.
