The Sound of Music - Tri-Valley Repertory Theater
The final collaboration between Rodgers & Hammerstein was destined to become the world's most beloved musical.  When a postulant proves too high-spirited for the religious life, she is dispatched to serve as governess for the seven children of a widowed naval Captain.  Her growing rapport with the youngsters, coupled with her generosity of spirit, gradually captures the heart of the stern Captain, and they marry.  Upon returning from their honeymoon they discover that Austria has been invaded by the Nazis, who demand the Captain's immediate service in their navy.  The family's narrow escape over the mountains to Switzerland on the eve of World War II provides one of the most thrilling inspirational finales over presented in the theater.

Main Library

Dr. Marshall Zaslove, MD, will present his program Cool Your Mind with Meditation at 7pm on Tuesday August 9, 2011 at the Livermore Public Library Civic Center, 1188 S. Livermore Avenue. There is no charge for this event.

How can we find true and lasting peace while living in today's frantic world? Board certified psychiatrist, best-selling author, and long-time meditator, Marshall Zaslove, MD, will present a lively and engaging workshop in achieving stillness of mind in meditation, for physical and emotional wholeness. His presentation will be based on the best-selling Inner and Outer Peace Through Meditation, by Rajinder Singh. All participants will be taught how to meditate on the inner light.

Dr. Zaslove has given over 800 presentations to both public and professional audiences including the National Institutes of Health and the American Psychiatric Association. His style is crisp, interactive and inclusive. At each presentation, his audience is given an actual personal demonstration of meditation. Dr. Zaslove was educated at Columbia and trained at the UCLA School of Medicine and the Neuropsychiatric Institute. He served in the Pacific in the US Air Force Medical Corps during Vietnam. Since 1969 he has lived in the San Francisco Bay area, where he is now director of the Zaslove Group in the Napa Valley. He is married and has three children. Dr. Zaslove has been practicing meditation daily for over 30 years, under the guidance of Sant Kirpal Singh, Sant Darshan Singh and the present head of Science of Spirituality, H.H.
