Bodeans
Those who have followed the BoDeans’ remarkable 30-year musical career know it is their blend of compelling songs and high energy performances that has kept loyal fans’ close. Best known for their catchy single, “Closer To Free,” the band’s accessible adult alternative sound on such chart-topping hits as Fadeaway,” “Only Love,” and “Dreams,” won them Rolling Stone‘s readers’ poll for Best New American Band in 1987.

Their 12 studio albums are filled with radio singles that have defined a generation including “Good Things,” “You Don’t Get Much,” “Idaho,” “If It Makes You,” “Stay,” “American,” and “All the World.” While few would expect the BoDeans to still be going strong, they remain one of the few bands that have survived the ups and downs of the industry, staying true to their sound and style and showing no signs of slowing down.

Subdudes
Acoustic Roots Rock

Over the course of 25 years and ten albums, the Subdudes have quietly become one of America’s national music treasures. The New Orleans-formed group is a living encapsulation of American music, a vibrant cauldron of sounds that stirs together meaty grooves and jazzy dynamics, soulful R&B swagger, easy vocal harmonies, cheeky rock ‘n’ roll attitude and folky social consciousness — not to mention some of the sharpest musicianship and ensemble playing you’ll ever hear from any five musicians.

Led by singer/guitarist Tommy Malone and accordionist, John Magnie, The Subdudes draw most of their inspiration from the sounds of their native New Orleans. The band is notable for the substitution of a tambourine player, Steve Amedée, for a drummer and Tim Cook rounds out the band on bass. An intoxicating blend of passionate, joyous roots music, this is more than just a concert – the “dudes” leave you feeling like they’re having a party and you were lucky enough to be invited.

Vitaly: An Evening of Wonders
Imagination Meets Reality

Combining breathtaking visuals with Vitaly’s captivating style, An Evening of Wonders is an interactive theatrical experience that takes audiences on a magical journey. Along the way, Vitaly blends art and illusion to illustrate the story of his transformation from a boy with a dream to a man with a vision—the vision of a world where the rules of reality do not exist. In this world paintings spring to life, photographs become mini-movies, and audience members see their faces vanish from their own driver’s licenses. Even time itself reverses as bare broken branches visibly repair and renew themselves with the green leaves of spring.

Growing up in Israel, Vitaly was just 14 when he discovered his passion for magic. Soon he was developing his own material, entertaining his friends and family. He has since earned a reputation as one of the most unique and innovative illusionists in the world. One of the only magicians to stump Penn & Teller, Vitaly recently followed in their footsteps with a run at the Westside Theater on Broadway.

Featuring some of the most original illusions ever witnessed—many of which touch on tender topics such as love, loss, and growing old—Vitaly’s An Evening of Wonders does more than entertain. It moves, inspires, and instills within all who experience it a fresh perspective on life and a greater realization that ours is a world of beauty and wonder.

A Tuba to Cuba: Preservation Hall Jazz Band with Yusa and Special Guests
As the group says, “A Tuba to Cuba” is as much a soundtrack to our documentary as it is a collection of songs that we wrote and recording during the filming and after its completion. The writing and recording of our previous release, “So It Is” began before our first trip to Cuba in 2015. We had no idea that it would become the album it would until we returned home from that first trip. The “A Tuba To Cuba” soundtrack is comprised of a combination of songs that are both in the movie and new songs that aren’t in the film or couldn’t have been in the film because not until we were able to watch it ourselves, we were again inspired to put that spirit into new music. Our five years exploring the Cuba/NOLA history has been inspiring to say the least.

Los Lonely Boys
Los Lonely Boys’ infectiously melodic mix of bluesy rock ’n’ roll and rootsy soul has long endeared them to their fiercely loyal fans. With flawless harmonies and soaring solos, their songs express the full range of life’s experiences and emotions.

Born into a musical family, the three brothers built on their father’s more traditional conjunto style emerging with their own “Texican” rock sound. Their debut album, propelled by the chart topping hit single “Heaven,” earned them a Grammy Award in 2005 for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group.

Over the years their music has grown, encompassing the conjunto rhythms of their youth as well as reggae, jazz, and a range of other influences. The Los Lonely Boys have released a half dozen albums, continuing to create music that speaks to the love, energy and pure spirit they share with each other and with everyone who hears them.

Four Italian Tenors
Touring the US for the first time, the Four Italian Tenors perform some of the world’s greatest music written for the tenor voice. In favorite arias from the operas of Puccini, Donizetti, Verdi, and Rossini, as well as familiar songs such as “Ave Maria,” “Funiculi, Funicula” and “O Sole Mio,” their performance is captivating, exhilarating, passionate, and engaging. Experience the rich culture of Italy with this new generation of world-class Tenors as they perform beloved works with verve and vivacity, in their own inimitable style.

Alessandro D’Acrissa has performed many of the leading tenor roles in opera houses such as Rome’s Teatro dell’Opera and acclaimed festivals throughout Italy. Federico Serra began singing pop music but was soon winning opera competitions and performed his first major operatic role in Bergamo at the age of 27. Taorima native Federico Parisi won the “Youngest Tenor of Italy” award and sings both classical and pop music in concert, as well as hosts a popular television show. Roberto Cresca began his vocal studies in Rome and has since performed numerous roles in Italian houses and toured extensively around the world.

Created in collaboration with the National Jazz Museum, this lighthearted multi-media show captures the sights and sounds of Harlem when legendary artists such as Fats Waller, Duke Ellington, Langston Hughes and Billie Holiday made it the cultural center of the country. Harlem 100 is an engaging modern variety show hosted by Michael Mwenso and his band The Shakes with special guests Brianna Thomas, Michela Marino Lerman and Vuyo Sotashe. Together they pay homage to the famous Apollo Theater, Cotton Club and other celebrated venues of the era, honoring the centennial of the Harlem Renaissance with a joyous celebration of song and dance.

Duarte Garage and Lincoln Highway Museum Open
The Duarte Garage was built in 1915 by F.H. Duarte on the original Lincoln Highway, the first transcontinental U.S. Highway. When the Carquinez Bridge opened in 1927, the highway was re-routed. This section fronting the north doors was eventually renamed Portola Avenue. Junction Avenue originally ran past the south doors.

The garage sold Associated gasoline and oil products and also performed repairs. In 1923 the south half of the garage was added and became an automobile dealership, selling Durant Star and Flint models. Robert Livermore Jr. was one of the salesmen in the early 1920’s.

In the early 1940’s the garage was converted into a machine shop for rebuilding winery and farm equipment. During the 1970’s the City of Livermore purchased the Duarte Garage and surrounding land for use as a park (now adjacent east of the Garage and caretaker's home). The Livermore Heritage Guild signed a lease in 1976 to restore and maintain the garage for use as a museum.

The Annual Guild Dinner and Annual Auction are both held in the garage. The Auction in particular is a favorite for people from all around.
