Livermore Valley Opera - Don Pasquale
David Gately’s well loved Wild West version of Gaetano Donizetti’s classic Don Pasquale is an evening of fun, laughs and amazing tunes sure to satisfy everyone. Join us as we saddle up to tell the story of Don Pasquale, an ornery old thing who’s desire to be married soon fades when his much younger wife takes the reigns and drives his life out of control. It is a classic Spaghetti Western complete with gun totin’ cowboys, saloon girls and bubble baths to set the stage for this evening of light-hearted fun. Sung in Italian with English supertitles.

Tom Rush
Tom Rush is a gifted musician and performer whose shows are a musical celebration…a journey into the tradition and spectrum of what music has been, can be, and will become. His distinctive guitar style, wry humor and warm, expressive voice have made him both a legend and a lure to audiences around the world. Tom’s shows are filled with the rib-aching laughter of terrific story-telling, the sweet melancholy of ballads, and the passion of gritty blues.

His impact on the American music scene has been profound. He helped shape the folk revival in the ’60s, and his influence extended into the renaissance of the ’80s, ’90s and beyond. His music left its stamp on generations of artists – James Taylor, Emmylou Harris, Tom Petty and Garth Brooks have cited Tom as a major influence – and his unique style continues to resonate with many of today’s emerging artists.

Now celebrating his 52nd year on stage and in the studio, Tom Rush is still doing what audiences love him for: passionately and tenderly knitting together the musical traditions and talents of our times into songs that speak directly to their hearts.

The Los Lonely Boys infectiously melodic mix of bluesy rock ’n’ roll and rootsy soul has long endeared them to their fiercely loyal fans. With flawless harmonies and soaring solos, their songs express the full range of life’s experiences and emotions.

Born into a musical family, the three brothers built on their father’s more traditional conjunto style emerging with their own “Texican” rock sound. Their debut album, propelled by the chart topping hit single “Heaven,” earned them a Grammy Award in 2005 for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group.

Over the years their music has grown, encompassing the conjunto rhythms of their youth as well as reggae, jazz, and a range of other influences. The Los Lonely Boys have released a half dozen albums, continuing to create music that speaks to the love, energy and pure spirit they share with each other and with everyone who hears them.

Livermore-Amador Symphony  - Pops Concert - Heroes and Villians
The Livermore-Amador Symphony Guild presents Pops concerts at which the audiences can enjoy light classical symphonic and pops music in a casual setting. After many years at “the Barn” in Livermore, since 2010 the Pops venue has been the ballroom of the Livermore community center.

The audience sits at round tables in the Cresta Blanca Room at the Robert Livermore Community Center. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the concert begins at 8 p.m. Food may be brought in but no drinks; wine, beer, and soft drinks are sold as part of this fundraiser for the Symphony.

The Livermore-Amador Symphony provides the music at Pops, with vocal soloists and a few audience sing-alongs. Many in the audience bring something to eat, from snacks to group potluck meals to elaborate dinners. (Beverage sales at Pops support the Symphony.) Members of the audience (and of the orchestra) are encouraged to wear costumes in keeping with the theme. (Usually about half the audience and almost the entire orchestra come in costume.) Each concert has a theme (like 2002’s “POPS on Broadway,” 1995’s “POPS Plays the ’40s,” or 2003’s “POPS—Dreams of California”).

Bullets over Broadway The Musical - Tri-Valley Repertory Theater - Main Stage
Loaded with big laughs, colorful characters and the songs that made the ’20s roar, Bullets over Broadway The Musical is bringing musical comedy back with a bang. Based on the screenplay of the acclaimed 1994 film by Woody Allen and Douglas McGrath, this six-time Tony-nominated musical features existing hits from the 1920s, including “Let’s Misbehave,” “Tain’t Nobody’s Biz-ness If I Do” and “There’s a New Day Comin’!”

David Shayne is a straight-arrow playwright who plans to stand firm against compromising his work but quickly abandons that stance when his producer finds a backer to mount his show on Broadway. There’s just one catch, however: the backer is a mobster who sees Shayne’s play as a vehicle for his ditzy, talent-free girlfriend. Throw in an aging diva, a savant hit-man and a bevy of beautiful chorus girls, and this is one Broadway show that is sure to knock ’em dead.

This is rated PG-13 for mature content and language.

Joan Osborne
Known for her gritty, blues-based rock style, Joan Osborne will bring her fascinating interpretation of Bob Dylan’s legendary catalog to the Bankhead Theater in late October as part of her new album tour. A multi-platinum singer/songwriter, Osborne’s passionate performance and emotionally evocative songs have earned her a dedicated following. “Songs of Bob Dylan,” her ninth album released September 1st, is the culmination of her performances in two acclaimed residencies at Café Carlyle in New York City, as well as a sold-out concert in Berkeley earlier this year.

Osborne unleashes her sizable gifts as a vocalist on a range of Dylan’s work, spanning from beloved songs of the 1960s and 1970s such as “Masters of War” and “Highway 61 Revisited,” as well as Osborne’s favorites from his later albums, “Dark Eyes,” “Tryin’ To Get To Heaven,” “High Water” and more. Rather than be constrained trying to imitate or surpass Dylan, she played with the songs’ arrangements, working with guitarist Jack Petruzzelli and keyboardist Keith Cotton.

Despite her passion for music, the Kentucky-native originally planned to attend NYU’s prestigious film school. Once in New York, she could not resist the lure of the vibrant live music scene and was soon performing her own songs in downtown rock clubs. Osborne launched her own indie label and released a live recording and studio EP, before her major-label, multi-platinum breakthrough album “Relish” in 1995. The album featured a Dylan song, “Man in the Long Black Coat,” as well as her chart-topping hit single “One of Us,” which gained renewed interest after being used on the hit TV show “Glee.”

Osborne is a sought-after collaborator and guest performer. She joined forces in 2003 with surviving members of the Grateful Dead, appearing on stage with Bob Dylan himself and toured as a member of Trigger Hippy with rising Americana star Jackie Greene and Black Crowes drummer Steve Gorman. A remarkably versatile performer, she has shared the stage with artists from Stevie Wonder and Emmylou Harris, to Luciano Pavarotti and the Chieftains.
