Valley Concert Choral - Carmina Burana | ||||||||||||||
March 18, 19 Saturday, Sunday
Valley Concert Choral - Carmina Burana Don't miss Carl Orff's ever-popular and appealing dramatic work Carmina Burana. This masterpiece, which Orff composed in just a few weeks in 1937, is based on 13th century manuscripts that were first discovered in a Bavarian Monastary in 1847. From the original manuscript's two hundred songs, Orff selected twenty-five of most powerful songs for his work. He intended that it be a staged piece, but the strong powerful pagan rhythms and often blasphemous lyrics have ensured that this piece will enjoyed by audiences everywhere. Members of the San Franciscos Concert Chorale and Cantabella Children's Chorus will join us, all accompanied by percussion ensemble and duo-pianos. Sponsor: Valley Concert Choral Location: March 18: Livermore High School - 600 Maple St. Livermore March 19: TBD venue in San Francisco Times: 8:00p (Saturday), 7:00pm (Sunday) Admission: Advanced: $17 ($14 for seniors).
