Firehouse Family Festival
The Firehouse Family Festival, benefiting the historic downtown firehouse conversion into the Firehouse Art Center will be held on Sunday, October 2 in downtown Pleasanton. There is no admission charge. All proceeds benefit the firehouse project.

The day will feature a 5K Fun Run/Walk, Kid’s Dash, family carnival with games, bouncies, pony rides and children’s petting zoo, a rib barbecue and live music.

Proceeds from this premier event will benefit the firehouse conversion project through the Pleasanton Cultural Arts Foundation (PCAF).

The conversion of the historic 1929 firehouse into a downtown arts center is estimated to cost approximately $8.5 million. The City of Pleasanton has committed $5.2 million toward this goal, with the balance to be raised from the community by the PCAF. The facility will include a 240-seat theater, galleries and classrooms.

Firehouse Family Festival will be filled with events for the family.

8 a.m. --The Pump House 5K Fun Run/Walk on a course through part of downtown, through the Alameda County Fairgrounds, and finishing on Division Street in the historic downtown. The event will begin at Neal Street. Registration begins at 7 a.m. The pre-registration entry fee is $20 per person for all age groups. The registration day entry fee is $25 per person for all age groups. A pre-registration family entry fee is available for $10 per person for a family of four or more. All participants will receive an event t-shirt, goody bags and after-race refreshments. Medals will be awarded to the first three winners in each age group. 10 a.m. -- Kid's Dash – The Kid’s Dash will be held on Railroad Avenue in front of the Old Firehouse. Registration begins at 9 a.m. Entry fee is $15 per child. Children will be grouped according to ages, 2-3 year-olds, 4-5 year olds and 6-7 year olds. All children will receive t-shirts and participation wrist bands for Festival carnival games in Delucchi Park on First Street.

11 a.m. to 4 p.m. -- Family Carnival – Delucchi Park, First Street. Young children can play carnival games where everyone wins prizes. Wristbands will be $10 for unlimited carnival game playing, not including bouncies or other activities listed below.

The carnival will include the rat race maze, slides, bouncie houses for all ages, the Meadowlark Dairy Ice Cream Frosty Walk, pony rides, a children's petting zoo and face painting. The Pleasanton Fire Safety House will be on display for people to learn more about home fire safety. There will be tours of the old firehouse, and works by local artists will be on display.

11:30 a.m. -- Lions Wayside Park, First Street. The Firehouse Family Festival Barbecue will feature Pleasanton’s own Tony Macchiano's award- winning ribs and side dishes for sale with proceeds benefiting the Firehouse Project. Tickets are $15 per person for adults and $8 per person for children and seniors over 65.

Just Before Noon – Ceremonies for the Kick-Off Firehouse fundraising program begin at the Chan Henderson Band Stand in Wayside Park, First Street.

Noon – The Pleasanton Community Concert Band and the Cool Tones will provide an afternoon of great music. People are encouraged to bring blankets or small chairs.
