June 4 Saturday | Buenas Vidas Youth Ranch 21th Annual Chili Cook-off Chili from hometown cooks and cooks from all of Northern California. It is an International Chili Society sanctioned event. Local dignitaries will be doing the judging, with prizes for the winners of both the ICS division and local division. Entry is $35, and requires 3 gallons of chili. There will also be arts and crafts booths, a band, some dance performances, and other activities. Hot dogs, Hamburgers, Soda, and Beer will be sold. Proceeds go to a special fund for extra outings for the boys in residence at the Ranch. This popular annual event is presented by the Livermore Valley Opera Guild to benefit the non-profit opera company.
